Most Innovative Medical Device Manufacturer & Critical Care Product of the Year 2018: ER-REBOA™ Catheter Since its inception in 2011 Prytime Medical™ Devices, Inc., The REBOA Company™, continues to succeed thanks to its team’s expertise and commitment to innovation. The company’s flagship product is the ER-REBOA™ Catheter, a guidewire free 7 Fr compatible balloon catheter designed specifically for rapid, temporary occlusion of large vessels in emergency and critical care environments during the REBOA (Resuscitative Endovascular Occlusion of the Aorta) procedure. The underlying intellectual property for the ER-REBOA™ Catheter was conceived by experienced military vascular and trauma surgeons, COL. Todd Rasmussen and Dr. Jonathan Eliason, based on lessons learned in caring for wounded service members in Iraq and Afghanistan. In October 2015, the ER- REBOA™ Catheter received 510(K) clearance and early in January 2016 Prytime began U.S. commercialization of the device. With the addition of CE Mark, the ER-REBOA™ Catheter is now available in key European countries, including United Kingdom, Germany, France and Austria as well as Canada. The excitement about and usage of this device continues to increase worldwide, with the total number of top tier hospitals using the ER-REBOA™ Catheter approaching 300. Developing a hospital REBOA program requires a team approach and training is a key component. To support training, Prytime developed its own unique training aid, the REBOA Access Task Trainer (RATT) Pulsatile Simulator.
