Just a few months after signing an agreement for the acquisition of the transponder division of the multinational Smartrac, the company announced the implementation of its next RFID (radio frequency identification) plant, the first in Brazil and the fifth in the world. The new plant will be located in Vinhedo (SP) and its inauguration is expected to happen in 2021. Upon completion of the Smartrac acquisition, Avery Dennison’s RFID business will represent a global platform with more than $500 million in revenue, offering long-term growth and profitability above the company’s average, through an extensive product portfolio. The new plant in Brazil will manufacture a wide variety of inlay designs. The company has partnered with Impinj and NXP to develop world-class RFID tags and incorporates the latest chip technology into its products. In 2019, Avery Dennison received the ARC quality certification from Auburn University, joining Smartrac as one of only two certified companies globally. In addition to this, all products comply with global industry standards and regulations.
