The Smell of Success INTUISCENT produces fragrance and flavor creations for fine perfumes and consumer goods, and designs fragrances for the body, face, hair, colognes, body mists, and lotion, as well as for the home, candles, soaps, laundry detergents, and other aromas/perfumes. Helen Feygin tells us more about the firm and the services it provides. “We custom design perfume oils for private label companies and exquisite Natural Perfumes for our clients. In addition we run a perfumery school that trains in the art of perfumery and fragrance evaluation. “Intuiscent provides perfume consulting in a fragrance selection process to support brand image and product development, as well as quality control of existing fragrances and raw materials and, when necessary, troubleshooting”. Helen believes that fragrance is the most effective tool in communication of perceived product values, as it supports and builds product/brand credibility. “Fragrance can make or break the product. Excellent perfume will drive brand success,” she explains. Helen is the founder and president of the fragrance and flavor supply company, Intuiscent. She is involved in all aspects of the company life. “I direct and manage our perfumers, sales and technical staff, actively participate in evaluation and raw materials purchasing. I also decide on strategic direction and marketing campaigns.” The company was founded in 2004 and moved to its current location in Middlesex NJ in 2006. Helen tells us how she first entered the wonderful world of perfume. “I have been involved with the fragrance industry for more than 30 years and I love being involved in the fragrance world. “I began as a Chemical Engineer, specializing in synthesis of Fine Organics. My entry in the wonderful world of fragrance began at a boutique fragrance house in Brooklyn, NY, Elias Fragrances. “Doing synthesis of novel aroma chemicals for in-house use piqued my interest in perfumery. And very soon I got involved into other aspects of the company – quality control and troubleshooting, regulatory compliance and creating fragrances.” In 1983, Helen joined Colgate Palmolive Company. It was her responsibility to ensure that fragrances used in Colgate products were loved by consumers around the world, and she developed and trained people in Colgate’s subsidiaries in the field of odor evaluation. In 1998, Helen joined IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) to direct their Perfumery Team. After several successful years at IFF, she then joined Symrise to lead Perfumery, Evaluation, Marketing and Consumer Research Teams as Vice President of Consumer Products Development. “Intuiscent is staffed by top-notch fragrance industry experts with extensive expertise,” Helen tells us. “Our people are self-actuators and dedicated to creating the best products. “My key principles to managing staff include being fair; giving people the tools to be their best; setting clear objectives and following up on execution; and providing help when needed.” “I came to the US as a chemical engineer, and needed to start professional career from the beginning at the same time learning the language. “I worked hard and earned the respect and appreciation in every company that I worked at. I took the same principles of hard work and creativity when I started my own company.” Helen strives to stay ahead of the curve by constantly keeping up with emerging trends in the fragrance industry. “It is essential to know and understand the latest technological achievements and especially the current consumer trends. The world is changing rapidly and young consumers are shaping it to their needs. “I follow trend publications, attend industry conferences and read market reports regularly. As an adjunct professor at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology), I teach fragrance and the interaction with my students provides insights into young generation’s needs. Also, many of our customers are young designers who have their hands on the pulse points of the industry. “It happens organically since I am constantly involved in current market trends and creations for the future launches.” K Company: Intuiscent LLC Contact: Helen Feygin Address: 476 Lincoln Blvd. Middlesex, NJ 08846 Email: [email protected] Telephone: +1 732 469 2999 Website: www.intuiscent.com 1703CA04
